On Saturday 26th September 2009 a squad of 10 swimmers from DDSC attended the Coventry Sprints Open Meet.

The event is comprised of of four individual 50m sprint events swum according to age groups, with each swimmer's times from the four sprints added together, and the faster overall eight swimmers per age group are invited to swim a 200IM final.

Before the gala even started, this DDSC team was a success - we haven't seen so many DDSC swimmers representing the club at an Open Meet for a long time.

Entrants were:

Many of the swims in the heats produced excellent PBs for most swimmers, and DDSC saw 5 swimmers qualifiying for their age group 200IM finals, as follows:

DDSC swimmers came away with several trophies, both from the heats and the finals.

An extra special mention is warranted for Ruth and Sam. Both of them remained undefeated on the day, placing first in all of their heats, and then winning their finals. Considering the standard of the competition, and the number of swimmers in attendance with national experience, the performances from Ruth and Sam were simply extraordinary.

Other trophy winners were Sophie and Anthony scoring two 2nds and a 3rd in their respective heats.

This was a truly great day for the whole team though. Poolside behaviour from our team was excellent, and the team spirit amongst the swimmers was superb (as usual!)

Full details and results can be found on the Coventry website, and a summary of our swimmers performances is available in the member's area of this website, or by clicking here.
