Saturday 17th April saw Droitwich Dolphins competing in the first round of the Nuneaton Junior Swimming league. For the younger members of the team this was their first experience of competing for the club. Having narrowly missed promotion to Division 1 last year there was hope of better things to come in this year’s competition.
The team swam fantastically to secure a comfortable 2nd place achieving 21 personal best times from 32 individual races. Special mention must go to the 12 and under boys’ team of Sam Cave, Aaron Biddle, Sam Heywood and Callum Goddard who only dropped 2 points in their age group. This was almost equalled by the 10 and under girls Teri Woodhouse, Alex Scott, Chloe Glover, Claire Humphries and Juliet Mourino who scored 32 points from a possible 36.
Individual 1st places went to Sam Cave (2), Chris Osborne, Aaron Biddle, Sam Geary, Claire Humphries and Ruth Hadley. There were also 15 2nd place finishes and 10 3rd places with the team finishing in the top 3 in all but 15 events. The team should also be congratulated on their support from the poolside especially the reserves who did not get to compete.
