We had a tremendous evening of swimming from the juniors who entered the gala last Saturday. There were some amazing swims from our youngsters and as you may have already read in the local newspapers a total of 170 Personal Bests were achieved, a real credit to all of them.
A special mention needs to go to Ruth Hadley who achieved a new Junior and Senior club record for the 50m backstroke in a time of 33.36.
Overall results are listed below and these swimmers will receive awards during our presentation evening to be held in January 2011.
Boys:
· 1st Bradley Ruston, 2nd Frankie Blincoe-Deval (8yrs)
· 1st George Bates, 2nd Chris Osborne, 3rd Theo Groves (9yrs)
· 1st Aaron Biddle, 2nd Joe Essery, 3rd Timothy Quiney (10/11 yrs)
· 1st Sam Cave & Anthony Redfern (joint), 3rd Sam Heywood (12/13yrs)
Girls:
· 1st Jessica Biddle, 2nd Grace Dean (8yrs)
· 1st Claire Palmer, 2nd Ellie Mortimer, 3rd Georgia Appleton (9yrs)
· 1st Samantha Gearey, 2nd Teri Woodhouse, 3rd Lauren Rogers (10/11yrs)
· 1st Ruth Hadley, 2nd Shannon Taylor-Adams, 3rd Niamh Harding (12/13yrs)

Finally we would like to thank all volunteers on the night for their help during this gala. We were really struggling for officials and volunteers in the build up to this gala and the turn out on the night was absolutely fantastic. It was refreshing to have a full complement of officials, with all stations covered and we even managed to have two timekeepers per lane.
To those parents who were new to officiating on Saturday, I hope you enjoyed the occasion, and will be able to volunteer your services at future galas. Together we make a great team, and if we continue to run galas like these, this club will continue to be a great club for our swimmers to belong to.
